Galaxy Rice is proud to have a long-standing partnership with Westmill Foods, a leading UK food company and part of Associated British Foods. For decades, we have worked together to promote sustainable agriculture and deliver premium Basmati rice to international markets

By consistently delivering premium Basmati rice, Galaxy Rice supports Westmill in delivering authentic quality to restaurants, retailers, foodservice outlets, and households across the UK and Europe—bringing people closer to their cultural roots through every meal.

Our partnership is anchored in the trust Westmill places in Galaxy Rice as a reliable, authentic, and quality-driven supplier. This trust has been built over years of collaboration, where consistency, transparency, and shared values have ensured that together we deliver nothing less than excellence.

At Galaxy Rice, we believe that long-term partnerships mean more than business transactions. They represent resilience, community, and the ability to stand by each other through both opportunities and challenges.

Westmill Foods, part of Associated British Foods, has been serving communities across the UK with roots in East and South Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean for over 30 years. As one of the country’s leading suppliers of ethnic food products, Westmill is renowned for its trusted brands and its deep connection to the diverse cultures it represents

Westmill is also recognised for its commitment to supporting customers and communities. From promoting healthy eating and cultural awareness to sponsoring educational initiatives and working with local organisations, the company continues to build lasting impact beyond its products

At Galaxy Rice, we are proud to be a long-standing supplier of premium Basmati rice to Westmill Foods. Our partnership is built not only on trust and quality but also on a shared commitment to sustainable agriculture. Together, we promote responsible rice farming practices in Pakistan—helping farmers adopt modern methods that conserve resources, improve yields, and strengthen rural livelihoods. By consistently delivering authentic rice from Pakistan’s fertile fields, we enable Westmill to serve households, retailers, and foodservice outlets across the UK and Europe—ensuring that every meal reflects authenticity, heritage, and excellence

For over 30 years, Westmill Foods has been serving multicultural communities across the UK, particularly those with roots in South Asia, East Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean. As a leading supplier to Indian, Chinese, and Thai foodservice sectors, its brands — including Lucky Boat noodles, Rajah spices, Habib and Tolly Boy rice, and Elephant Atta flour — are household names trusted for authenticity and quality.

When the pandemic forced thousands of restaurants to close, Westmill acted quickly to support its partners. The company launched a Restaurant Survival Guide, helping restaurant owners transition to takeaway and delivery models in line with UK Government guidelines. Issued in five languages (Bengali, English, Hindi, Mandarin, and Urdu), the guide reached an estimated 20,000 restaurants, helping businesses withstand unprecedented shocks.

Westmill’s commitment extends beyond commerce. Its diverse workforce — drawn from the very communities it serves — actively engages in local initiatives. In 2021, the business helped distribute over 370,000 meals to community centres across the UK, strengthening bonds with customers and supporting those most in need

Westmill’s sustainability strategy is deeply integrated into all aspects of its business — from sourcing raw materials to caring for its workforce and minimizing environmental impact. As founding members of the Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP), Westmill began collaborating in Pakistan in 2018, working with 1,000 basmati rice farmers. Through this partnership, farmers are trained in sustainable farming methods. The impact includes a 48% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, 31% decrease in water usage, 11% increase in yields, and a 39% boost in farmer incomes.

In 2023, Westmill expanded its SRP-aligned work to Thailand, partnering with 800 Thai Hommali rice farmers. Early outcomes have been promising: a 13% reduction in GHG emissions, a 56% cut in fertilizer use, and a 10% income increase for the farmers involved.

Beyond rice, Westmill is active in improving sustainability in spices and other crops. In Maharashtra, India, it runs a Sustainable Turmeric Project with AB Mauri, focused on empowering women, improving farmer health and hygiene, and enhancing agricultural practices and yields through better training and resource provision.

Westmill is also part of the Sustainable Spice Initiative, with a goal of sourcing 50% of its top 3 spices sustainably by 2030. Current progress shows 41% of turmeric, 76% of chili, 48% of cumin, and 14% of paprika are being sourced sustainably under the initiative.
